Questions
What can I grow on the Wirral?
Almost everything in the RHS recommended list for north-west England. Courgettes, beans, peas, salads, tomatoes (in a warm spot), potatoes, carrots, beetroot, herbs. We'll suggest what works best for your garden's aspect and light.
How big should my raised bed be?
A 1.2m × 2.4m bed (4ft × 8ft) is the classic size — wide enough to reach the middle from either side, long enough to grow a useful variety. We can go smaller for tight spaces or larger for serious growing.
Do I need to be a gardener to maintain it?
No — we can maintain it for you as part of a regular visit. Or we can show you the basics and let you enjoy doing it yourself. Either approach works.
What time of year should I start?
Early spring (March–April) is ideal for getting beds in and starting the first sow. We can build beds any time and get them ready for spring planting even if we build in late winter.
Where we work
We cover the full Wirral Peninsula — from Heswall and West Kirby in the west to Birkenhead and Wallasey in the north.
